Projects
The first project to be taken on will be the building of a clinic at Sedibana village in the Xaxaba area of the Okavango Delta. This project will be carried out in conjunction with the Sedibana Hospital and Children's Fund of the USA. Donations made to the above fund as well as donations made by clients of Bush Camp Safaris will be used to facilitate this project.
The method that will be used to carry out this project will be as follows. Necessary building materials needed for the project will be procured in Maun. Cement building blocks will be manufactured in the village. The cement and building materials will have to be transported to the village. A building contractor will be employed to do the actual building. The understanding will be that the contractor employs most of the staff for the project from the village itself. This will provide much needed income to individuals of the village as well as a sense of ownership in being involved in a project which will assist and help the whole community.
The project has been sanctioned by the chief of the village as well the community itself. It is our policy that any projects taken on will be discussed with any community so that such projects are carried out in order of importance and priority to the community and that these receive the sanctioning of the relevant community.
